Emergency Care
Cimarron Memorial Hospital provides 24-hour emergency services and is designated as a Level IV Trauma Facility.
A Level IV trauma center offers initial evaluation, stabilization, diagnostic testing, and treatment for emergency conditions. If a patient requires a higher level of care, prompt transfer arrangements are made to an appropriate facility.
Emergency Department Capabilities
Our Emergency Department includes:
-
A dedicated trauma room equipped to care for patients with life-threatening conditions and serious injuries
-
Two fully equipped treatment rooms for patients with less emergent needs, including:
-
Suturing
-
Casting
-
Wound care
-
Other emergency procedures
-
Triage & Patient Assessment
Upon arrival, a trained emergency nurse will assess your condition through a process called triage, which determines the urgency of care needed.
Based on this assessment, patients are classified as:
-
Emergent – Life-threatening illness or injury
-
Urgent – Stable condition requiring care as quickly as possible
-
Non-Urgent – Stable condition requiring minimal treatment or medical attention
This process ensures that patients with the most serious conditions receive care first, while all patients receive timely and appropriate treatment.
Emergency Staffing & Diagnostic Support
Our Emergency Department is staffed by qualified medical professionals trained to respond to a wide range of emergency medical situations. Diagnostic services, including laboratory testing and imaging, are available to support rapid evaluation and treatment. Patients are seen based on the severity of their condition, not the order of arrival. This allows our team to prioritize critical cases while ensuring all patients receive prompt care.
Transfer to Higher-Level Care
If your condition requires services beyond what Cimarron Memorial Hospital can provide, our team will coordinate a safe and timely transfer to a higher-level facility, working closely with regional hospitals and emergency medical transport services.
